Really old drawing I did and touched up in photoshop, it was so faded and trashed, it took a good amount of time to restore it back to a decent level.

This is of course, Carnage, from the Spider-Man comics. One of my favourite Marvel characters.

Edit: Slight update, adjusted light/dark shades to make hand stand out better.

Okie dokies... here we go ---

I rather like the differences in tone, for the most part. I like the extreme darks and lights that are used to make him appear wet... (shiny?... which ever.)

However, when I first looked at it I didn't realize that was his hand in the foreground -- there is no difference in tone there to show that his hand is farther forward than the rest of his body so it sort of gets lost in all the shades of gray.

Typically, images that are further away are lighter than things that are closer, so I think it would be helpful to either darken the tones in his hand, or lighten the tones in the rest of his body. I vote for the second option because the tones in his hand are already so dark...

Hope that helps!

Blessings!

You're right about the hand, it's been bothering me too. It was fine in the original, years before it faded. Should be an easy fix in photoshop when I get the chance. Thanks for the continued input.

You could always download the Gimp (www.gimp.org). It's like photoshop, but it's free and open source. It's what I use on Linux but theres a Windows version on the site.

I still prefer photoshop because I'm more used to the layout and where things are, but Gimp basically can do most everything photoshop does.
